Yarra Fresh – Epicurean Kitchen was pleased to host Ke Dongkai, (Agriculture Technology Counsellor , Australia Embassy in China), Michael Finucan (General Manager - International Markets, MLA), Joe Zhu (Country Manager – Greater China, MLA) and Wei Ran (Market Access Manager, MLA) at our retail outlet in Chengdu.
According to Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) figures, China became Australia’s top beef export destination for the first time ever in July 2019, edging past Japan by 700 tonnes. Yarra Fresh’s General Manager, Luo Lin shared the new retail concept offering convenience, quality and peace of mind in terms of origins traceability in a market notorious for food fraud.
As Australia is one of the core producers of quality beef in the world, our guests were very pleased to see fresh beef from Australia made easily available in Chengdu and Yarra Fresh playing a important role in promoting Australian beef in China while upholding a premium level of quality.
Through Yarra Corp’s integrated supply chain, live cattle imported from Australia are slaughtered in our abattoir in China, offering a fresher and favourable option counter to the traditional imported frozen beef that the local market is used to. Our cattle pass through a total of 7 stringent inspections and quarantines stages to ensure high standards of quality before reaching the consumers.
The visit ended with a tasting session where our guests experienced dishes cooked on the spot by our star chefs using healthy and delicious Australian fresh beef. We trust it was a great afternoon and look forward to welcoming more friends and associates.
